Tatyana Fazlalizadeh is an accomplished painter who uses her art to address the struggles and issues marginalized people face daily. In 2012 Fazlalizadeh started the project Stop Telling Women to Smile to raise awareness about street harassment. Using real women as her subjects she creates posters with portraits of the women and what they wish they could say to their street harassers, she then wheat-pastes these posters around different cities. Fazlalizadeh’s work helped women to share their stories about harassment while calling out the men who harass them. Since 2012 the project has become known around the world and is ongoing.
